I have been tracking all my youth pulls since season 7 (with some exceptions in the first two or three seasons). A total of 564 youth pulls.

Based on my evidence, a player who's name is 11 characters long (including blank spaces) will not have 4½ or 5 star talent. Out of 62 players, only 16 have been either 3½ or 4 star talent. None have been 4½ or 5 star talent.

If you want a better chance of a great player, you should look for youths with names that are 12 or 16 characters long (including blank spaces).

Vigtig viden, ligegyldig info.

I'd say it's highly unlikely that the name has any bearing on a player's talent.

My QB (a youth pull) is 4.5* and has 11 characters in his name. I've also got youth pulls with names 9-15 characters long who are all 4.5* or 5*. Also different countries are naturally going to have longer or shorter names on average, so such a rule wouldn't hold up. In short, I don't believe there's anything in this.

I don't think I am trying to prove anything here than the randomness of the game. And how much time and effort, I have lost.

More irrelevant stats to come...

BREAKING NEWS

Cornerbacks are dumber than wide receivers.

In a study performed by 1.000 monkeys at Drusselstein (Local) University, data on youth pulls show, that fewer cornerbacks have an intelligence above 15 than wide receivers.

The lead monkey, Dr. Zeus says that the study is made on "many" youth puls and that "someone" smeared a banana over the quality control.

A deeper look into the numbers paints another picture. Despite only 8,47% of the cornerbacks pulls had an INT of 15 or above (compared to 13,64% for wide receivers), a whooping 24,24% of wide receivers pulled had an INT of 5 or lower compared to cornerbacks, where only 13.56% had an INT of 5 or lower.

Same study shows that if a youth pull has a high INT, they are also more likely to have a higher level of talent.

18% of all youth pulls with an INT of 18 had 4½ or 5 star talent.
16% of all youth pulls with an INT of 20 had 4½ or 5 star talent.

On average, youth pulls with an INT of 10 or lower, only 5% had a 4½ or 5 star talent.

Here's food for thought. Of all my 4.5 or 5* youth pulls, more than half of them have had last names with either 4 or 5 letters. I always go for short last names, but then again, I mix that strategy with taking the youngest by age and highest by starting stats

75% of all my youth pulls with 4½ or 5 star talent have all had a starting speed of 12 or more.

Could be a coincidence as I always pull the youngest player with the highest combined speed and strength.

I'm very conflicted this morning. There's a 0.5 star talent somewhere in my list and I'm determined to find him.

Jay Kay
Brandon Lee Protheroe
Reuben Gardner
Peter John Cook.

The top one I'd call him JK. He'd be a wide receiver who'd drop a lot of catches but the girls would love him. He'd have lots of endorsements from edgy commercial organisations. He'd vape between plays.

Brandon - a hometown boy - he'd be on the O-Line and would take the blame whenever another lineman screwed up. He'd drive a Ford.

Reuben - a short-fused LB with good dance moves. He'd wear bad suits because he liked the attention.

Peter John Cook - another LB though a mediocre one. He'd wear a long Macintosh and hang around with a player named Dudley John Moore.

Aaargh decisions.
