Well, right from the start it would be right to make them fight their way up in my opinion, too, but the problem is that for example a newbee might be put in a div. 5 competition and, let's say, be ranked 7th with 5 losses in the middle of the season with a still unbeaten bot at the top of the league table.
it's impossible for him to prevent the bot from winning the competition for he's got only one opportunity to win a game against the latter, adding one single loss to it's stats, while the bot itself is very unlikely to be beaten by another bot around, which means that the player will spend 9 useless weeks until next season's start.
won't he be rather likely to quit the game?
[edit]By the way, this again would mean that even more bots would be flooding div 4...

When he comes in in the middle of the season why he (the newbee) should have the right to go on division up? I understand what you mean, my son entered GI, the first in Division 5 (CE). He was placed at 7th. Now he has a challenge, that's it. And as I saw in his division there was not a single bot in it without a loss this season...

And for the edit: Yep, when there are not enough humans...

I disagree. You are right for frustration, but no newbee can expect to be placed at division first. He has to fight for in the same way like all others did. But of course this is only my opinion.

Ya I think so too. I'm still fighting for promotion, hope I make it

I personally would like to see division 5 done away with across the board. If there are no current openings in their chosen region, allow them to either select a different one, or wait until a spot opens up in their chosen region.

The drop out rate is far too high as it is, and Division 5 only makes it worse.

This information is simply wrong. Based on some stats and division crawls the game is growing. Division 5 should no be a serious problem if it stays at that level.

Well... I can say this about my division... there have been up to 8 humans in NA D.V.70 this season and there are 2 left now.

Last season in the same division, there were at different times up to 6 active managers at a time, there were 2 at the end of the season.

That's 14 managers active in the last 2 seasons and there are 3 of us still active. And one of those has missed going bot by 1 day three times in a row.

That's not a very good retention rate.

edit due to bad math on my part. 8+6 = 14 not 12

OK, might be it is different from division to division, my counts are valid for "overall". And we had a stat per region - all regions are growing at the moment.

And, based on our stats, NA seems to be a little bit special, could be the expectations of the americans doesn't really match with this game

That could very well be. There are many many online games to choose from.. the huge success of games like WoW, Everquest and others attests to that. And gamers these days tend to want to be up and running at full strength almost immediately. (everywhere, not just in the US, there's just so many gamers here that it tends to skew the numbers)

Instant gratification is not what you'll get in this game!

I personally like the challenge of building a winner from the ground up. After 2 seasons in D.V though, I'll be glad to hopefully get to a league with more competition.

Yep, same is valid for me...my team was born in 11/2008 in D4, and now it seems I am able to promote

This is what I think as well..

Americans think: "Hey, an american football game that happends to be a management game"

Other countries think: "Hey, A management game that happends to be about american football."
