Can you sell one side of the stadium only?

I can sell the whole thing for $6.7 mill which would solve some immediate problems, but I suspect screw the pooch long-term.

Yeah I will be dumping the retirees, the vets, the high-earners. Figure best to keep the young talent as the transfer market doesn't really reward.

To put some numbers around it, I had over 20 mill in the coffers a few seasons ago and have drawn down on it ever since, i.e. to cover wages and maintenance. Sustaining the salary bill is not feasible without AFLC kitty.

Yup cannot sell one side. And you don't get much for it if you sell it. Nor is the maintenance much compared to wages. Wages are the easiest way to save money.

Youth Academy, doctors, coaches save a little also. But players are 80% of a teams weekly bills.

Probably got to aim for the $1.1M wage bill. I was getting good $3M-$7M profits being mid standings and deepish cup runs.

Cool, thanks for the advice guys.

I think I'll be OK if I just get rid of retirees, sell some backups, maybe Youth Academy. At least for a couple of weeks.

I have a two game away stretch coming up, worryingly. Could be an opportunity to sell stadium and rebuild?

Keep an eye out, there might be some panic sell bargains :-P

Sorry about that stadium "section" advice - wrong game!

I think if it was me I'd redo it though. It really dilutes the effect of the VIP / Exec seats when you get crowds << 97500. And then there's the maintenance on top of that!

You only got 86623 to your last home league game last season - a lot of your problem is here imo.

I'd offer at least $2 on either of your NT DEs

Sad to hear though. I didn't have the best financial year last season either, but most of that was due to stupid transfer spending. Still got plenty in the bank though (10s of millions) luckily.

Re-doing the entire stadium really isn't worth it, and would signal a need to completely rebuild in the long term. 97500 is a bit high, but still doable. Just need to cut wages and take care with training, so you get an efficient list vs salary (e.g. just popping skills after season turnover/wage increase). That way you're still up there, and will likely still contend for AFLC places (which will help).

Selling off the stadium is the most terrible advice that has been posted.

You'd only get back enough funds to build a 15,357 capacity stadium with max vips and execs. Earning $982,140 per home game.

I'd be pretty sure you get more than that now with 97,500 capacity, even with poor seating dilution. Even a half full stadium nets you $1.3M per home game. That last league game with 86K attendence still netted you $2.3M.

$2.3M is much better than $0.982M.

Short sighted!

The bleeding you pass off as insignificant is there season after season, game after game.

I think 85,000 to 90,000 is ideal for a fully charged team with a shot at the AFLC. It would seem that that's out of Katsuben's reach for a few seasons at least.

A 97500 seat stadium for a team that's not going to be doing a lot of winning is crazy.

In my 6th game last season I hit the 80k mark (my present stadium's capacity) after a 4-1 start (about what you'd expect from a solid TD team).

Conservatively I'd be at approx 90k by week 10 with a 90k stadium. So if I had a 90k stadium then the bit I lost up until this point I'd make back by season's end with sustained performance. And with an AFLC birth that would be worth an extra 800k on the season compared to an 80k stadium as well.

Doing the same with a 97.5k stadium is questionable, and if you don't keep that 4-1 winning ratio then no way is that size stadium treating you well.

It sounds like Kats will be lucky to maintain .500 so crowds would be approx 60k. This is 60/97.500 * $2,627,000 = 1,616,616.

So you'd be down approx 600k per home game until you upgraded another 30k and then it's all in the green from there. And if you get enough money from selling players then maybe you go immediately to that situation.

And that doesn't even include the difference in maintenance.

A no brainer imo! I'd be selling every player over about 20-30k and putting all the sales money back into the stadium, a lot better for the experience. And then have all my players come back up together.

Short sighted? To sell off and then get back to 85K means katsuben would need another $17,410,750 to complete the stadium build.

How long will it take katsuben to get that $17.xxM earning $982K per home game minus the bills?

Right now he is earning $1.95M per week averaged over 9 league games. Your suggestion means he earns $0.98M per game. That is only $8.73M less per total season. More if you include cup games also.

But maybe you are right? With him loosing an average of $650K a game due to seating dilution or $5.85M per season. So 3 years to get back that $17.xxM.

But lets no forget the $1.0M he will not be loosing per game, or $9.0M per season until get can save enough money to build up to 85,000 capacity. So 10 seasons saving $1.7M = $17M. But he has now lost 10 seasons of $9M, so all up the whole process has cost $107M.

$107M divided by $5.85M = 18.29. So katsuban should seen a return on his investment in 18 seasons. Great plan!

Short sighted indeed. Silly me for only looking 18 seasons ahead.
